Darren Proulx started Darren J. Proulx, CPA, in 2009. Although the company is located in Sidney, BC., it supports clients in and around Sidney, Duncan, Victoria, the Cowichan Valley, the Southern Gulf Islands, and Alberta.
Would it surprise you to know that Darren’s least favorite part of running a business is doing his own bookkeeping? It’s true! Although he really enjoys putting your fiscal puzzle together and seeing you through the various stages of life, doing his own financial homework is a little less fun. That’s why as principal at Darren J. Proulx, CPA, Darren focuses on providing the best tax and accounting advice possible; he understands how important it is to have a reliable sounding board and advisor when making business and investment decisions.
Darren completed his Certified General Accountant designation in 2005, and specialized in entrepreneurship while obtaining his commerce degree from the University of Victoria in 1999. Currently, he is part way through the National Fire Protection Association 1001 firefighter training.
Darren hails from Youbou, British Columbia, and lives in Sidney with his wife and three children. His hobbies include riding a motorcycle and playing golf. He’s a Sidney Volunteer Firefighter, and (not surprisingly!) treasurer of the Sidney Volunteer Firefighter’s Association. When he isn’t “talking shop,” Darren is usually talking about firefighting, motorcycles and classic muscle cars, hockey, or football. He’s also been known to express a few opinions about provincial politics (mostly frustration about how illogical they are…).
When asked why his clients choose Darren J. Proulx, CPA, Darren says, “I think my clients enjoy my personality and ability to translate government talk into an understandable language. My job is to provide the best tax and accounting advice I can for my clients, so I tend to go the extra mile!”
Chris Elliott was born and raised on Vancouver Island, and lives in the Cowichan Valley today. He has been a Public Practice Accountant since 2000, with expertise in a wide variety of fiscal areas. You might work with him on your personal and corporate tax filings, financial statement preparation, GST, PST, business valuation, SR&ED grant, or succession planning.
He graduated with honors from the University of Victoria in 2000, receiving a commerce degree. While a CGA student, he was recognized by the CGA magazine Outlook for receiving the top mark in British Columbia during his final year of study.
Chris has a wry sense of humor, loves to golf and read, and to spend quality time with his family.
Louie enjoys work more than anybody. He watches over the office and performs “security checks” on most of the clients. He gladly accepts dog treats and will eat twice his body weight in pepperoni. His nickname is “Loubacca” due to his shaggy face and resemblance to Chewbacca from “Star Wars.”
